Картина написана маслом на холсте. Этюд писался с натуры на севере Франции. Стоя на горе , мы видим просторы полей, а справа за отвесными скалами - море. Хотелось передать летний заход солнца яркими красками и контрастным тоном. Картина написана в стиле импрессионизм, который и зародился под этим же французским солнцем.
